Cooperative education...(co-op) is work-based learning which integrates the government jobs. Co-op allows students to acquire practical skills by being exposed to the reality of the world of work beyond the boundaries of the campus.

* Evaluate potential employees prior to permanent hiring
* Serve as mentors for future employees potential/skills
* Participate in the educational process of the CO-OP students and help improve the content of CO-OP and other career and technical programs

Why Hire a CO-OP Student?
* CO-OP students are screended to determine character, dependabiltly, and aptitude for successful part-time employment
* CO-OP students and CO-OP employers are assigned a teacher-coordinator who serves as a liaison and evaluates each student's performance with input from the employer
* CO-OP students may repport to work earlier in the day than other students, allowing for more schedule flexibility in the workplace
* CO-OP students receive assistance locating Cooperative Education part-time employment
* A training agreement which explains the conditions and terms of the program for each participant is signed by the student, parent, teacher and employer

CO-OP Student Qualifications
* Must be a junior or senior in high school
* Enroll in and and pass the class related to CO-OP employment
* Work a minimum of 270 hours per one semester (15 hours per week) to earn one-half elective credit
* Demonstrate acceptable job performance as per input from CO-OP employer
* Demonstrate motivation, willingness to work and study, a postive attitude and interest in one's future
